One of the most popular rail options available, perfect for a weekend getaway is "

The Cannonball" – the premier express train service offered by Long Island Rail Road.  Serving eastbound travelers for more than 100 years, the Cannonball Leaves Penn Station Fridays at 3:58 PM, changing at Jamaica Station at 4:25 PM and then running express to the Hamptons. The Cannonball is reportedly the most popular train offered by Long Island Rail Road.  After allowing connecting customers to hop on board at Jamaica, this train speeds out to the Hamptons arriving just in time for you to make Happy Hour.

The Cannonball is one of the few trains that offers Hamptons Reserve Service. Riders enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride in bi-level air-conditioned coaches with ergonomic two-by-two seating as well as Bar Service. Reservations guarantee your seat and our courteous attendants serve beverages and snacks at your seat. Cannonball Boarding Tips
